Make text inside fusion not affected by color tab edits.

PostThu Apr 01, 2021 8:05 am

Is it possible to make text, that's made in fusion not affected by color tab edits?

I have some text that tracks a video clip, and it's made in fusion tab. After I edited that clip in color tab and now my "should be pure white text" is greenish. Is it possible to have color tab edits effect only the pure clip and not fusion things inside it?

I think it's not possible. You need to have the text in a seperate clip above the video.

Duplicate the clip you want to track and put it on top, open it on the fusion page and do the tracking, then replace the MediaIn1 node with a transparent background node to make only the text visible. Apply any color corrections to the clip bellow.

Yes, another method is work inside an adjustment clip on a Video track above.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

The last time I tried a planar tracker inside a fusion clip/adjustment clip, for some reason it did not work. I tried again today and it worked. So, both solutions from iddos and Jim are better than the one I posted.

You can add a second MediaOut node on the Fusion Page and connect your text to it. On the Color Page, add a second input, this will be the output from the second MediaIn node from the Fusion Page. Use a layer node to connect the two on the Color Page and then grade them separately as you want.

Using an Adjustment Clip is also a good way as mentioned above.
