Render job fails with no write permissions

PostThu Apr 01, 2021 2:15 pm

Hi,

Probably related to DR Studio 7.1.1 on W10.

After this update it was no longer possible to write to folders that were accessible before.

The error is triggered by the top folder named in the Preferences/Media Storage and/or the actual destination folder in Delivery (which is a different drive in my case).

The workaround is starting the DR with admin privileges.

Note:
I noticed that there is a C++ redistributable installed during the installation. I'm not certain this has a relation to this issue.

L is an internal NTFS formatted drive?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

It's slightly worse. The problem seems to be intermittent. Running in Administrator mode now suddenly seems to fail too.

I definitely have write access to all drives, they are not full. There are no hardware errors.
Still, the write permissions error keeps popping up, and I can't figure how to work around it.

Any help is appreciated.

My apologies, this was a real 'gem'.

It appeared that some delivery presets did work. I was using a custom setting with a preset.
I found in the preset I was using a setting for a subfolder to put the video in.

The sub folder looked like \FB\. When rendering it creates the folder FB and then fails. This is caused by the second "\". If you just use \FB, it works fine. It probably wants to write into a sub folder after it finds the second backslash.

Would have been nice if the error was something like "xxxx folder not found" instead of "permission" error. I guess it's a small buglette.

Anyway, I'm happy that I was able to find and fix it.
