Ripple extend clip duration

Hi everyone.
Davinci newbie here.
Can anyone help please, I have a project with 30 photos and am trying to extend the length of each from 5 seconds to 10 seconds
I have sussed out how to right click and change clip duration but this squashes all the following clips shorter so I have to go through each one separately!!
I have tried highlighting all clips and doing the same but it still only changes one clip and still squashes the rest.
Is there a way I can either change all the clips duration together or at least when I change one it pushes all the rest along like a ripple instead of compressing everything after it.
Any help really appreciated I am pulling my hair out on this one and can not find an answer online.
(I am using Davinci 17 on a Mac)

We used to be able to change them all at once. That's no longer possible in version 17. Not sure if that's a bug or by design, but you'll have to extend them one at a time now.

I really hope this is a bug that will be fixed.

It works on my system. Select the clips you want to change the duration on, then switch to Trim Edit Mode. Hit Ctrl-D and change the duration as needed. All the clips will change.

Thanks a lot Eric that worked great, it was just a matter of changing to trim edit mode.

Not working for me under 17.2.1 Build 12.

Odd thing is, after I select all, Ctrl-D, and (try to) change the duration, all the selected clips become linked.

I just got it to work. Trying to change clip duration from 4s to 6s. It wasn't working initially. Then I de-selected the first and last clips (which were already longer than 4s), and it worked.

So it only works if all your clips are the same length initially.

If you move all the timeline clips forward in time, away from the timeline start, does it work as expected?

No. In fact I can't even replicate my previous success anymore. It just changes the duration of the first clip in the selection while pushing the rest of the selection to the right to make room for the longer first clip.

I have the same question.
I have upgraded to Version 18 and this is the second feature that seems to have gone missing from previous versions. I appreciate the work being done and regarding stability it is remarkable what has been improved over the last few versions.

1. How can I extend a clip duration without squashing the following clip? There is no "trim mode" available any more in the dialogue.

2. How can I group clips?
There is no more grouping. There is linking, which doesn't work, when I move clips. And there is compound clip, which is not the same, it melts the clips together to one.

I was grappling with this issue yesterday with versions 18.1 and 18.5. I had a group of still images that I wanted to extend the clip duration for all of them.
Selecting the group in Edit using select mode followed by lengthening the clip duration (Command D) lengthened the first clip only. Shortening works on all selected clips.
I then stumbled across this post. Trim mode on its own doesn’t help.
With some experimenting I found a work around.

1) Select the clips in select mode so they show the selected box around each clip.
2) Type “T” to enter Trim mode.
3) Command D to get the clip duration dialogue.
4) Change the duration.

It’s a bit clunky but it works.
