Hardware & software

PostMon Apr 05, 2021 3:48 pm

Hello,

I am choosing a new equipment to work with Resolve 17. I am mostly working with full HD, rarely 4k, mostly basic Resolve functions.

Do you think below specs are enough to run Resolve smoothly?

Procesor AMD Ryzen™ 7 4700U (8 Cores, 8 Threads, 2.00-4.10 GHz, 8MB Cache)
RAM 32 GB (SO-DIMM DDR4, 2666MHz)
Drive SSD M.2 PCIe 960 GB
GPU AMD Radeon™ Graphics

Thanks!

Can you specify a particularly GPU for guidance.
The newer the better, with more vram, better.
There is a huge range of GPUs so based on a generic mention no one could say it will work.

Hi.

In Resolve the CPU is used to run the app, disk I/O, fusion, compression and decompression of codecs.
Resolve does all its image processing in the GPU on the graphics card. More CUDA/OpenCL Cores are better.

4K videos have 4 times the pixels of HD. And for 4K is the absolute minimum 6 GB of vRam on the Graphics Card, but minimum 8 GB of vRam or more are recommended.

Regards Carsten.

It is integrated GPU with Ryzen 7 4700U. As far as I understand it does not have vram and it uses laptop's RAM as video memory.

Insufficient for Resolve. 7 shaders are a joke, serious cards have thousands!

The software may be free, the hardware needed definitely not.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
