I'm working with 1 VO track and 1 Music track (EQ disabled). I try to "normalize" the solo'd VO track to -10 dBFS. But when I monitor the levels on my VO tack meter, I see it peak at -13 dB; when I monitor my Main meter, I see -16 dB; and when I pull up the Frequency Analyzer and look at it's meter, that shows the correct -10 dB.
Anyone know what's up with these discrepancies? They make me feel unsure and uneasy. Thanks!
Check your signal path as with a single signal they should all match. The pic shows a single stereo track being replayed in the Fairlight page and the meters match.
Resolve Studio 20.0 build 49 Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (572.16 Studio Driver), Win10 Home, Speed Editor, Faderport 1, Calibrated Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ & Samsung monitors for UI, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.
I would also expect a difference if routing mono into a stereo path, depending on how pan law functions in Fairlight as well as how metering is done. So it could be normal.
