Try a GPU driver upgrade
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverR ... 2458/en-us

If that doesn’t work tell us what u mean by can’t do anything, see the FAQs.

I am having the same error "your GPU memory is full"

I want to start using DR but I can not use it. Even after a few minutes in a very simple edit, it sends the error.

I have
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050.
Version 462.59
Cuda cores 640
Graphics clock 1354 MHz
Dedicated Video memory : 2028 MB GDDR 5
Total available graphics memory: 10163 MB
Memory bandwidth :112.13 GB/s
System video memory : 0 MB
Shared system memory : 8115 MB

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
RAM : 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
windows 10

I have updated the drives at Nvidia website.
I have done "PREFERENCES-MEMORY AND GPU-CUDA-Hand selected the GTX 1050 card.

Is my machine not good enough to properly work with Davinci Resolve?

Since I´ve heard so many good thing about DR, I am even thinking to buy the STUDIO version, but I need to know if my computer will be able to work with it.

I plan to so simple Youtube videos as a "entry" into video editing.

Can you please help me.?

Thank you

I would advise a new GPU, Cato. An nVidia RTX model with at least 8GB of VRAM (once they become available again).
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thank you for your reply Jim.

As you can tell, I am not well informed on all these technical details about graphics cards etc.

All I want to do is make some youtube videos to teach natural building techniques for people at low income rural communities in Mexico.

After a quick search, those nVidia RTX look pricy. Yeah, it is a bit disappointing that my machine can not work with DR. I guess I will just have to go back and keep trying with Premiere Pro.

At least now I know it will be a bad idea to buy the Speed Editor bundle from Black Magic, only to find out that my machine can´t handle DR.

As i have said, I really don´t know how this forums work. I mean, I do appreciate your time and your answer, but after reading other posts from people having issues with Black Magic Design products, I am surprised that the people at Black Magic do not reply or give an answer.

Anyway, Thank you again Jim.

Best regards

Another possibility is that you are using some large source images on your timeline or in Resolve's Fusion, that you could scale down (for free in Gimp, or using ImageMagick utilities) before loading them into Resolve. If you are bringing in 3000x2500 pixel still images, for instance, but could live with 600x... images for use on your timeline, then using the rescaled image might in principle allow DR to ask a lot less (5^2 = 25 times less) of the GPU when it is combining images.

Thank you BounceHouse. I see. So, it could be that if I am trying to use Envato Elements templates that are too big in size? (intrs, slideshows) (https://elements.envato.com/hip-hop-intro-B4JUTLH) for example.

So that means that I must choose the templates with low resolutions?

My personal footage is only HD 1920x1080 .. Ok, Thank you I will try again. I do appreciate your time.

The particular item you pointed to is 1920x1080 I think; I don't know if scaling it down further will get you to where your video card can handle the requested processing. But you could try.

As an example: my GPU has 6GB to work with, and if I have 1-2 large still images (3000x2400 or suchlike) on the screen at once, there is no complaint. But if I start placing 10 images ranging from 1920x1080 to 3000x2400, on a screen at once (in Fusion or directly on the timeline), and any are animated, suddenly the system crawls or crashes (with the GPU memory full message). If I make a copy of the image folder (to retain the originals) and run imagemagick to mogrify the ones Resolve is using down to 700 pixels maximum dimension, then suddenly everything speeds back up and crashes go away, for example on a PC w/ImageMagick installed, from a cmd window in that folder whose files will be overwritten: magick mogrify -resize 700 *.jpg

I hypothesize that your GPU with less memory will need to be working with images that aren't too large for you to have a smooth experience.

Thank you very much for your time and advise. I am having a mixed experience. I think I will just go back to Premiere. It crashes from time to time, but it is easier to find answers. Thank you again.
