DR17 serious Fairlight bug involving plugins

PostThu Apr 29, 2021 3:28 pm

17.1.1 on Windows 10 here.

Fairlight Tab:

• Master Bus / Bus 1 plugins issue: This is a MAJOR BUG and deserves special attention. Changing the project's timeline resolution, Framerate, Pixel Aspect Ratio, Interlace Processing and Playback frame rate (in short: everything in the Master Settings / Timeline Format menu) will result in a RESET of all Fairlight effects and third-party VST plugins' settings in the Master Bus (Bus 1). This is a serious bug!
Second issue: De-activated FX and Plugins will get activated inadvertently, as well.
Tested with third-party VST plugins (Brainworx, Izotope, Waves). Same effect: All settings reset to default.

In other words: making the changes described above messes up your Master Bus audio plugins.

Re: DR17 bugs and feature requests

Bugs can be reported here.

Feature Requests have their own forum.

In both cases, best practice is to post one idea per thread with a very brief description in the thread's title.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

For clarity and so others can properly test, do you actually mean "plug-ins" (effects added by you to the software), do you just mean effects (those that are included with the software), or both?

If the former, which plug-ins are you using?

I've just tested it with the factory / Fairlight effects as well as with third-party VST plugins (Brainworx, Izotope, Waves). Same effect: All settings reset to default.

OK.

Just tested the Echo effect (because it's really obvious), changed the timeline resolution both for that timeline alone, and then at the Project level, and the effect remained as I set it. No change.

Studio 17.1.1 for Windows.

I've done a quick screen capture of the behaviour:

Yeah, I can't reproduce that. It doesn't reset.

Sebastian, u r suggesting that some random setting of a plugin that's not applied to a timeline should be remembered? I'm confused.

I'm referring to plugins (either Fairlight FX or third-party VST) that are loaded in the Master Bus (now called Bus 1) which are reset to their default values when you change the settings listed in my OP.
It even goes further, as I just found out: Deactivated FX / Plugins will get activated upon making said settings changes.
Of course the settings are applied to the timeline, and I very much wish them to be remembered, as with all other settings of my project ^^

I've just duplicated the bug on another machine (Lenovo Laptop). Same effect.
