I am editing a documentary that was shot in 4K DCI, some ProRes, some Canon mxf. I decided after doing a little bit of light work that things would go smoother if I generated proxies. I made 1080p proxies of everything with the media manager, but if I selected the automatically relink to new media function, Resolve would crash before relinking. I opted to just generate the proxy media with the exact same name and file type as its source (via the media manager) and manually select clips and relink them.
However, for the MXF clips, when i relink my 4K clip to the proxy, it is squeezed. It looks almost like anamorphic footage before setting your pixel aspect ratio (don't worry i checked that mine was correct).
Has anyone else experienced this - Relinking to proxy footage then the size is interpreted incorrectly?
If i reveal the clip in media storage/view in finder, it appears normal.
I have checked all the input sizing, pixel aspect ratio, and other usual suspects. What is especially strange is that it is only the .MXF footage, the .MOV ProRes proxies link and scale fine.
I found something of interest in this thread regarding how when you relink the metadata doesn't seem to update. It still says my footage is 4K even though I have linked to the 1080 footage. Though I am not sure if this is the cause since the .mov footage works fine and is the same size.
If I reimport the footage it is correctly scaled, however I have made lengthy notes with markers at the clip level so reimporting is not an option unless someone can show me how to transfer markers from one clip to another.
I am running Resolve 16.2.7, I tried importing into 17 and it did not solve the issue.
Any thoughts?
