Resolve Studio sees my Nvidia QRTX4000 but not in Delivery

PostSat May 01, 2021 7:27 am

I am the frustrated new owner of a $3300 Dell 7750 with the Quadro RTX4000 that doesn't do anything in Resolve. Resolve sees it in the preferences. It is selected in the preferences. The Intel integrated Cpu Gpu is DESELECTED in the preferences. But the Intel integrated Cpu Gpu piece of shite is the ONLY option in the Quicktime /MP4 .265/.264 drop down menu on the delivery page. I have searched google. I have searched here. The only things I've seen are scary bits of old code being offered up as temp fixes and people saying "live with it." This is so frustrating to be sold a system with coordinated marketing by Dell Nvidia Intel and Davinci with promises of happy renderings just to spend hours and hours initially trying to fix BRAND NEW BROKEN THINGS.

So. I will waste all the tech supports time. I will call Davinci and slog through whatever barriers they have to speaking with humans so I can enjoy hearing them not help me. I'll take advantage of my super duper useless Dell tech support and waste their labor dollars as they waste my time until they tell me it's not their issue. Then on to NVidia. This is a known, long standing, constantly discussed issue with NO FIX! Why am I dealing with the same stupid issues of incompatibility with 17th generation software, 10th generation OS and CPUs, and purpose built gpu's?

$3300 machine, $300 software. All useless when I get the same performance from the free version on my 12 year old Thinkpad. Yes, most of this is worthless ranting, because it's 3:30 am and this was supposed to be a joyful day with new equipment.

There is a rather simplistic test to see if it is a system or Resolve issue. Load up any other software that uses gpu encode and if it works as expected, it isn’t hardware or system issue.

Try if NVENC works on FFMPEG. It's a function of the driver API. Double check if you really have the latest for your card.

Disabling Intel igpu in device manager is not possible?

Did you disable Intel in both GPU and video decode sections of Resolve preferences?

It really shouldn't be required to disable the iGPU. Resolve should offer both Nvidia NVENC and Intel QSC encoding on the deliver tab. I'd really assume the Nvidia driver is too old to expose NVENC API in a way Resolve requires it.

Disable the Intel GPU in the BIOS setup. Resolve does not work efficiently with mismatched multiple GPUs.

Actually it been two years or so where I haven't seen any such issues anymore. iGPU + Nvidia work as they should in Resolve.
