Custom Workspaces ?

PostSun Nov 25, 2018 11:30 am

will we be getting customize-able workspaces in Resolve.
i have a dual monitor setup, one of them is 1366x768 resolution.
.
i currently use premiere pro.
and i really really really like Resolve.
and i want to make it my default.
.
i can undock & drag each window & resize it and create my own workspace according to my needs.
will we ever be getting this in resolve, or this is why blackmagic sell their hardware.

I asked the same when I first switched.

I now actually prefer the Resolve GUI to Adobe's.

Give it some time.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Which is fine, and completely unrelated. The issue isn't whether Resolve has a better GUI than some other software. The issue is whether Resolve has the most efficient GUI for the task you are doing right now. The fact that the GUI keeps changing is proof that it isn't there yet, so why not let users handle it?

Right. How can Blackmagic possibly know what is best for what *I* am doing (specifically). Also... in a world where many, many editors have three or four monitors (at least), how can the newest version of Resolve (17) still only support two monitors?! I have one workspace profile set up to use a third monitor as "video clean feed," but because DaVinci won't let you *actually* customize your workspace, when doing this, you essentially have two program monitors going, because you can't disable the one that is set as the default in the Resolve "Edit" Workspace.

DaVinci REALLY needs to give their users control over their own workspaces. It's a make or break situation, and after editing a couple of features on Resolve, I'm about to switch back to Adobe (with their myriad problems, I still prefer being able to set up my own workspace --mostly to take advantage of multiple monitors for screen real estate).
