DaVinci Resolve 17 Studio Upgrade

After using the free DaVinci for several years, I decided to upgrade. After many calls to various Black Magic distributers last year, I purchased Studio from the Apple App Store, the only place I could find it for download in the USA. DaVinci 16 has become DaVinci 17, yet there is no upgrade in the app store - no full DaVinci 17 even offered. Did I screw myself by buying Studio? My last post here, I was told I could only upgrade through the app store? How does that work when it isn't offered?

V17 is available on the App Store, as is 17.1.1.
Do you have the studio version installed?

I checked for App Store updates - nothing. Then did a search for DaVinci which took me to DaVinci Studio and only 16 was offered. Plus the free DaVinci 16. I looked around - found FCP, iMovie, etc, but no 17. So unless Apple buried it deep, I couldn't find it.

Sorry, yes Studio 16 has been installed almost a year. App store installed it when purchased.

The problem I found last Covid summer, I was starting a 90 minute project and decided to upgrade to Studio. BM-Australia didn't offer a purchase download, just referred me to resellers. I called BM USA, didn't get a ring back for days with "a too little, too late" info, but not much help. Local distributors informed me they only handled hardware when they called back, often days later. I checked App Store for the hell of it, and there it was! So I got it. App Store usually upgrades automatically, but found out they don't do incremental upgrades. 17 is a full upgrade and should be available. It wasn't yesterday. Right now I feel like an idiot for buying Studio.

The latest version of Studio 17.2 is available on the Mac App Store. You should be able to upgrade for free.

Thank you. Checked for it yesterday. And Voila! Studio 17 was offered. Apple took Studio 16 off. Someone there was asleep at the wheel.
