DR crashes on "Add to Render Queue"

PostWed May 12, 2021 8:16 am

Hello, how are you?

I recently purchased a new laptop and installed Davinci Resolve, this is my first time using it. I have a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 15" with the latest drivers installed, and I installed Davinci Resolve 17. I did some simple video editing of a few clips and text together for a 15 second video, I haven't installed any additional plugins or anything like that. Every time I try to add to render queue so I can render and export the video, Davinci crashes. It doesn't give any message other than "Davinci Resolve quit unexpectedly."

I've tried searching many fixes / tricks / settings on Google and Youtube: exporting to a seperate USB hard drive, changing to .mp4 format, different resolutions, changing the render speed, lowering the quality, checking "use render cached images" after playing through the timeline so the bar turns blue, turning "updates during renders" off, unchecking "stop playback when a dropped frame is detected" and "stop renders when a frame or clip cannot be processed"... nothing changes, it just crashes the same every time before even putting the video in the render job queue.

I've seen a few people online say they've been able to use Davinci Resolve with this same laptop, so I'm not sure what's going on or what I'm missing here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Josh
