Missing media every time project opens

PostTue May 11, 2021 10:00 pm

I know this is a commonly reported issue. But it happens to me every time I open a project that all the media is missing and I have to relink all the items manually. My source files reside on the internal drive of the computer, so it's not a removing volume issue.

Is this happening to anyone else? What should I look at to solve this?

Thanks!!

That's not normal.

Nothing is being stored on a network or removable drive?

Nothing is stored outside of my internal drive. I have no clue as to why is this happening, could it be related to caching settings?

There are no settings that would cause that.

What camera was used to film the footage?

No camera, this is a screen recording project, hence the video clips are .mov or .mp4 files.

That may be the issue. I always recommend hardware recorders for screen capture you intend to edit. They typically offer editing friendly options like DNx and ProRes, whereas software normally doesn't.

I also edited other projects with the same type of files captured in the same manner, I don't see why with this project would be any different with this problem arising...

Could it be that the recoding computer had a higher load this time? You may get more off-speed frames then, which can cause trouble.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

It could be. But how would that affect all media? I have to relink everything, including images, audio files, ecc...

Do you have a sample project archive (.dra) which includes a sample media which can show this issue to us? You can send it to me on a pm.
