Questions on Opacity, Keyframes, and the Timeline Indicator

I'm editing a simple titles clip and want to adjust it's opacity, moving the opacity up and down based on the clip underneath. When I select the keyframe it shows up 5-6 frames (maybe more) ahead of the timeline indicator. Is that normal? Shouldn't the keyframe show up right at the point the timeline indicator is placed? Since it shows up in the wrong place if that's normal do I just move it where I want it and make the adjustments?

Here's the file in question. You can see the timeline indicator is the red vertical line. I had just added the keyframe which is 3 frames to the left of the timeline indicator. Why don't they line up?

How did you add the keyframe - did you click on the diamond next to the value in the Inspector panel or change the Inspector panel value or use another method?

I've always wondered if there was a difference in how you did this. I've tried it in both the clip and the inspector and am puzzled by the results. They both seem to accomplish the same thing.

In the case of what I did that is represented by this image, I clicked on the diamonds in the clip.

I'd love to understand all this better.

I opened up a new project, switched to the Edit page, added a clip to the "Video 1" track on the default timeline, and then dragged a "Title" effect to the "Video 2" track. Then I clicked on the title to select it, went to the "settings" tab in the Inspector, and added some keyframes by moving the playhead to various positions, clicking on the diamond to the right of the "Composite->Opacity" setting, and changing the value. I couldn't get it to create keyframes anywhere other than where the playhead was sitting, even with the timeline zoomed the maximum amount.

Does it work correctly for you in that kind of simple scenario?

No it does not. Exactly why I'm asking for other peoples help. I've been trying to figure out if there's some setting of something like a setting that is the cause for this. I have no idea. I currently having to use AE roundtrip as a workaround in order to accurately pin the opacity properly. Not ideal.

FYI I'm currently using 17.2 build 11

There's no setting that would intentionally offset a keyframe like that. I've also never seen it happen.

The only idea I have that might explain it is a re-timed clip, but I wouldn't expect that to apply to a title.

Really grasping here but, what is your Timeline and Playback frame rate? What is the media frame rate?

I think you nailed it!

The clip was shot at 50 fps and set in attributes to 23.98. That's got to be the issue.

Not sure why it would do this but at least I understand why one clip acted one way and others acted differently. Not really a bug, just bothersome. I finally shipped the parts I needed off to AE and round tripped it back as a rendered file.
