Wrong track indicator?

PostTue May 25, 2021 2:17 pm

Hello, first thread ever, overwhelmed starting using Resolve Davinci.

I am a bit "uh" on this: the track "id" surrounded by orange box seems always stuck to track 1 of the respective type. Is this expected? Shouldn't it be the same as without orange frame?
What does it mean if this is the right thing instead?

Windows 10x64 Pro, Davinci Resolve 17.2.

If you're not aware, BMD have provided us with some really great training materials. The Beginner's Guide is a great place for new users to start.

Helped me out a lot.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hello Jim, I *am* aware of:

- 3600+ pages of user manual (high praise for that)

- 450 pages of RD16 tutorials (I'm going through *all* of them, I guess this is the beginners guide you are mentioning, but it refers to RD16 and there are differences in GUI and functionalities compared to RD17); after around 75% of going though it, I just found quick mention of this thing without a clear explanation.

- more 450+ pages of RD17 new things from RD16

- An enormous amount of videos on YT

I thought I could ask a simple question without having to dig deep in all of this (and I also have eaten tons of Casey Faris videos on YT in the meanwhile) and receiving the RTFM (or Do the ******* Training) redirect.

To be honest, I also tried Googling but it's not easy to find the right search - indeed didn't found anything so far...

I have now seen this is something about patching tracks, even though not yet so clear to me.
Will check the page Peter pointed in the manual.

Thank you for your help,
Mario

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that the training would answer this question. That was more of a response to your initial statement of being "overwhelmed". (That's usually the result of folks trying to use the software without any training at all.)

Thank, got it. I have now passed the beginner exam, the journey goes on :)
