16mm Zeiss Ultra Prime Lenses

Hey Ho!

i am really excited about the idea to buy at least one 16mm Zeiss Ultra Prime Lense.
The thing is that i have to use Pl adapter since they come in Pl-Mount. The other thing is that the chip of the bmcc is a bit bigger than 16mm so therefor anyone knows at which mm its save to use? draws on the full chip?

i was thinking of getting either 12 or 9,5.

The focal lengths we used most were the 12mm and the 25mm.

whats up with the sensor size of the pocket?, ill use the cc.

Did you get any blooming with the Zeiss Glass? Try shooting som oncoming traffic or bright lights at dusk, to see if you can get "blooming" issue. I shot last night with a Leica DG 45mm, normal looking.
I am thinking part of the Orb blooming issue might be partially lens caused. I would like your opinion or test on this, as I do not have S16 lenses to check with. You can PM me.

The S16 lenses were a rental item, so I don't have access to them right now. But I can try to do a "blooming" test this weekend, perhaps.

I can tell you that there were one or two shots that showed the phenomenon, but I can't remember if those shots were with the S16 lenses, or with the Olympus 12mm M43 lens.

A friend have a few S16 Zeiss super speed for the Pocket. Tested on a RED. Cover until 3K.

My guess it was the Olympus 12mm, as prev. Shots posted with this lens showed blooming lights.
Pany Lumnix and Olympus MFT lenses are not fully corrected, as mft cameras aid in lens correction in camera, where the BMPCC does not. Also sensor size may be a factor in combo with these lenses.

Personally I'd go with the 18, but I tend to shoot more "normal" fov shots in my work. If you tend to do more wide shots I'd go with the 12, since it equates to ~35mm, the 9,5 will give you ~28mm which I've always found to be sort of an awkward fov, I usually prefer to go down to 24mm or up to 35mm.

(18*2.88=51.84 or ~50mm)
(12*2.88=34.56 or ~35mm)
(9,5*2.88=27.36 or ~28mm)

be carefull and make shure that it covers the sensor. You will need a S16 lens. There is a difference in 16mm and Super16 aka S16. Only S16 covers the sensor. Some sellers on ebay state "16mm for GH2/NEX5/7" which is not true!
I watched some sales on ebay but since the announcement of the Pocket prices raised far beyond 1000€ for a lense which is still usable but has significant marks of usage. I found them too expensive regarding the fact that you cannot use it for other m43 cameras and you still need an adapter m43/PL for about 300€. Also consider that they are heavy and big, the idea of "Pocket" gets lost also.
