How to apply custom ACES IDT transform to individual clip(s)

PostThu Jun 03, 2021 11:07 am

I have a custom-made IDT that I'd like to apply to some of my clips on the timeline. The instructions for the IDT say I should install it in c:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\ACES Transforms\IDT\

The ACES Transforms\IDT\ part of the path didn't exist and so I created the folders and put the IDT in it. I then went into Resolve, added the ACES Transform effect to the clip and expected to see the IDT in the Input Transforms list, but it's not there.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm using Studio 17.2.1 btw

I've never tried this but two things I would check is are the permissions correct on the directory and file you created? They should match the directory above it. Also did you restart resolve? Many things get picked up at startup time.

You're using the wrong folder location.

It has to be under the other folder heirarchy:

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\

The ProgramData global hierarchy would have made more sense like with the LUTs, but it is what it is.
