Bugs i´ve found in DaVinci Resolve 17.2 Studio

PostTue Jun 01, 2021 8:16 pm

I bought DaVinci quite recently (I bought when there was version 17 without any update), but I have found so many bugs so far, that I am really disapointed. I really would like to like this SW, but it causes me troubles that other program (even Premiere Pro which is famous for bugs) never did in such a short time. I hope that my not very precise english will be understandable enough. .I did not find any bug report form, so I will write it here

1. Crashes (all the time), even during really ordinary operation (e.g. switching between timelines), sometimes crashes during export. (the smallest problem)

2. Sound export to aaf (protools) sometimes skip some sounds when embedded in wav. - I exported quite a simple sound timeline for processing in protools and what happened was, that sound guy called me, that he is seeing there should be a sound on few places, but the audio itself was missing. Strange is, that nothing was different between missing sounds and sounds that remained (for example first take was there, sound from second take was missing, sond for third, fourth take was there, sound for fifth take was missing etc.), there was no sound effect on any of that sounds. After a while, we found out, that (fortunately) if I export it not as embedded, but seperate files, every sound remained, so we did it this way. But some time you don´t have a time to experiment what works and what does not. You expect it would behave the same.

3. Once when I was editing on 25p timeline with 50p videos and also other videos from imported 50p timeline it looked it normal (plan was edit on 25 p timeline and than copy back to 50p timeline due to the need to maintain an even number of frames for a for correct conversion to 50i TV broadcast). I did whole first cut and after few hours I went for a break and for the first time that day I turned Davinci off. When I started it again, timeline was a really mess.. Some videos were missing, some was moved somewhere else on timeline and some videos looked like they are somehow melted into eachother (hard to describe - to give an idea how it looks - imagine two clips, which have 6 seconds together (3 and 3 seconds), but when you click on first clip it suddenly seems like that it has 5second and the other one now looks like 1s clip, when you click on ther other one, it suddenly looks like 4second clip and first one look like 2 second clip ). This situation was same in every auto save which was created that day.

I think I found more bugs (sometime live save is not saving; sometime searching tool does not find specific media or timeline), but 2. and 3. was the worst.

It's best to stick to one topic per thread. That keeps the conversation easier to follow.

Which one you wanna start with here?

Number 1 is your biggest problem. Once that gets fixed, the others (apart from flaky AAF export, maybe) I expect the others to go away.
Regarding interlace, I’ll comment later (or you can look for my earlier posts on the subject).
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

what do you mean by this? There is no embedded option with the ProTools AAF export.
