Subtitle file formats that support styling and positioning

PostWed Jun 16, 2021 5:41 am

I was reading through YouTube’s list of supported file formats for subtitles (https://support.google.com/youtube/answ ... le-formats), and it appears that the only file format that supports both positioning and full style is TTML. If this is true, then what is the point of styling subtitles in Da Vinci Resolve if the intent is to export a separate file? SRT apparently doesn’t support style/positioning, so there would be zero point in applying any style or positioning (unless one wished to embed/burn in the subtitles instead). Is there any way to export styling in the TTML format from Resolve, or would someone need to more or less learn to code in TTML and use a separate programming text editor to construct a script for the desired style and positioning of subtitles?
