Interlacing problem in clip attributs R17

PostThu Jun 17, 2021 2:14 pm

Hello,
On Resolve 17, I can no longer deinterlace the videos.
The "enable deinterlacing" box is no longer present in the attributes clips of Resolve Studio 17.0 to 17.2.1 on MAC and PC
We can still choose the fields but no longer force the deinterlacing.

I'm in a 25p project because my 80% documentary is progressive and the rest is from an archive that needs to be deinterlaced. No problem with Resolve 11 to 16 when I was doing this program but now not possible.
You will find the native, the Resolve 16 render proxy which allows deinterlacing and the Resolve 17 proxy which no longer allows it.

Can you put this box back?

If you could also put back the "enable field rendering" box available to check / uncheck in the project after creating a timeline that would help a lot because since Resolve 17 timelines with multiple cadences are hell.
I am forced to have an old basic Resolve 16 project to open in Resolve 17 for the "enable field rendering" box still available in the project at all times as well as the "enable deinterlacing" box in the attributes clips

Hi,

Resolve 17 now automatically deinterlaces interlaced footage that is in progressive timelines. It will only do this if the source footage is flagged as interlaced. This is either flagged automatic, or if your interlaced footage is incorrectly encoded with a progressive flag then you may need to manually flag your clip as interlaced.

By starting a project in R16 you are forcing the "legacy" interlaced processing to be used, which in my eyes is a mistake, but it is a small learning curve on the new intricacies of interlaced processing in the new software release.

Also, its worth enabling the new neural deinterlace engine. It hogs resources but the results, in my experience, are quite incredible!

Hope this helps,

Paul
