Color stripes on media import bug

PostFri Jul 09, 2021 7:37 am

Hi!
I have a weird bug. Just received a few files from a customer shot on Sony A7S III in 4K (50 and 120 fps).
Upon importing any file to Resolve the first second or two have this weird color stripes. The rest of the footage is fine. What can cause this problem?

Thank you in advance!

I number of years ago there were similar issues with specific codecs. It was resolved by switching GPU drivers. In the case of a few years ago, I needed to roll back the driver a few versions. I would start there - either upgrade or roll back your GPU driver and see if that resolves the issue.

Hi!

Thank you foe the advice, but it doesn't help. I tried switching from Studio driver to Gaming driver and also tried to roll back. The result is the same...

Can you share a small problem clip for us to test?

Looks fine on the Mac too. Could your GPU be faulty or overheating?

It doesn't look like that. Although these lines look random, every time I delete and re-upload the same video I get exactly the same line in term of color, position, duration, movement.

Either way I found the workaround - I simply processed these videos through video converter and now they look fine. The only mayor difference is that original videos were 10 bit and the new are 8 bit. Maybe that was the problem.
