Editing two videos at once?

PostFri Jul 09, 2021 7:11 pm

Hello! I'm a noob video editor and I was wondering what the most efficient way of editing two videos at once is. So for instance, what I shot was sort of interview style, where one camera was a static shot of all three hosts, and the second camera I operated zooming in on people's faces as they spoke. I want to just cut between these two. The good audio is attached to the moving camera, not the static one if that makes a difference.

What's a foolproof method of doing this? I seem to be floundering. For some reason, if I double click the close up camera, I will see it in the preview, but as soon as I hit play it goes away. This could be because the closeup camera is set to V1? I'm not sure how this works.

Thank you!

You can also place the wide clip above the moving closeup clip on the timeline then turn off the wide clip track so you see the closeup clip in the timeline viewer. Now, wherever you want to cut to the close shot just cut the wide clip away. When done, turn the wide clip track back on.

This is exactly how i ended up doing it. Turning off one video and turning it back on. But it seems a bit...inefficient. I'll look up videos on proper multicam editing.

If you set up multicam correctly, it’s a single keystroke to cut to a different camera angle.

Does anyone have tips for properly color grading so the two bits of footage match better? They're also from two different cameras lol.

To start, try to find something white (but not overexposed) or light gray that shows up in all cameras and use the scopes to balance the RGB levels.
