Copying Fusion 16 Titles to 17

PostWed Nov 25, 2020 3:26 pm

Hello,

I have installed Resolve 17 on my laptop to try. I have Resolve 16 on a desktop machine.

There is a Fusion Title in Resolve 16 that I wish to use in 17.

Is there a simple way of copying the template for titles across from one version to another? I could happily uninstall 17 from the laptop, install 16 and then upgrade to 17 again if that would carry the old title templates across. The laptop install is purely a test environment at the moment.

Thanks,

Peter

A lot of the templates changed between versions. I don't know of any way to get them across.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Peter
since Resolve 17 has tremendously improved their font management, one noticeable feature is to recognizing the font as you scroll the list.
Titles created in 16 should open fine in 17, but not in every case especially a Text+ or Fusion titles.
I had an issue; my titles that resided in the Power Bin I created in DR16, no longer working in 17, unless I opened the original project in 17, and created a new Power Bin adding the title from the timeline, then it was accessible in my other projects in 17.
In your case, try to export a Power Bin from the 16, it will be a .drb The b for bin.
Then open it in 17, it will show up in you bins folder.
To export the Bun, right click and choose export.
There is more info in the new guide within the DR 17 app, on page 25, a section on exporting and importing bins,
I hope this helps, let us know if it worked.

Thank you for your helpful replies.

It turns out that what I want to do is very easy.

Say for example I wanted to use 3D Title In a Box from 16.
All I had to do was copy the settings file from directory /Program Files/Black Magic/Resolve/Fusion/Edit/Templates/Titles on my Resolve 16 install machine to the same directory on the Resolve 17 machine.

Simple as that.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Peter.
Do you still have all the titles files of the Davinci 16 to attach here ?
A lot Davinci 16 titles was excluded on 17 version and I would like put them inside again on directory /Program Files/Black Magic/Resolve/Fusion/Edit/Templates/Titles.

Thanks.

I already got the Titles of DaVinci 16 !!
Unfortunately, a lot DaVinci 16 titles was excluded on 17 version BUT fortunately the titles files of the DaVinci 16 can be copied from the directory /Program Files/Black Magic/Resolve/Fusion/Edit/Templates/Titles and pasted on the same directory of version 17.
I did that and it worked 100% !!
I packed the "Titles" folder as ZIP file including all titles files of DaVinci 16 and availabled it on GDRIVE:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c5KEXv ... sp=sharing
If someone want the "Titles" folder with all DaVinci 16 titles, download the Titles_DaVinci_16.zip file on link above, unpack the zip file and move the "Titles" folder to the directory /Program Files/Black Magic/Resolve/Fusion/Edit/Templates/
Or you can download the DaVinci 16.2.8 in the official website and to install it in any laptop or PC, puting the "Titles" folder in a pen drive and to moving it to your computer where has the DavInci 17 installed, in the directory /Program Files/Black Magic/Resolve/Fusion/Edit/Templates/

Thanks.
