Audio Waveforms

PostSat Jul 17, 2021 5:01 pm

Hi all,

I have noticed in Resolve 17 that regardless of input it can take between 5-10 minutes for my Audio Waveforms to display on my timeline both in the edit page and in Fairlight (I don't use the cut page). I have brought in RED Raw 6k footage, .Mov's (H.264 &H.265), and .Mp4's all take forever to show the waveform. I just brought in my first ATEM recorded file and the same thing. Is there a way to have to waveforms show up quicker?

System is:
MacBook Air M1 16gb of RAM
1TB NVME drive
Media Stored on:
10TB USB 3.1 drive
32TB Raid 5 NAS via 10GBE

Thanks

Tommy

My first thought is - use internal drives.

My second thought is - as Laptops can't have enough of them, use a desktop.

My third thought is - as it's cheaper to build a Windows desktop than buy a Mac...

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks but not practical, I had the same issues with my Mac Pro tower with 128gb of RAM w/AMD 8GB GPU, running multiple internal SSDs - my NAS on 10GBe has a faster read/write speeds than my Mac Pro's internal SSDs.

M1 laptops = M1 desktops.
