Creative Video order

PostThu Sep 26, 2013 1:35 pm

Received this email yesterday from Creative Video (CVP)

I have look at you order and it was placed on the 14/05/13. We have been taking orders since the camera was announced in April which means there are quite a few orders ahead of you.

Looking out our back order list I estimate there is around 260 order before yours.

We did have another shipment today and the quantity had more than doubled so hopefully we will see this continue.

Putting poor grammar aside... I placed my order with a large reseller thinking they would receive more cameras but was this an error? :? Has anyone else placed orders with them. If so you can email OrderProcessing@cvp.com to find your place in the queue. I would be interested to know a) when you placed the order and b) where you are in the queue.

I ordered mine on the 16/05/13 so I'm going to be somewhere north of 260 which isn't very pleasing to hear. I'm waiting to hear back on my official place in queue. When they say their order has more than doubled over the one before it does that mean they received 1 the first time and the next order they received 2 or 3? It's all guess work unless a quantity is given. I'm thinking of canceling now.

I ordered with CVP on April the 15th and I was advised I was around 200th in the queue.

I cancelled my pre order with them this morning as I realised even if their deliveries are doubling it probably only means they are receiving 4-6 cameras a week (based on historical figures), which means I would be waiting a long time!

I luckily back in April also placed an order with Jigsaw24 on around the 30th. I am now 10th in their queue so hope to get my cam off them in a few weeks minimum!

I would try and place a few pre orders with other British companies. Tyrellstore based in Ireland have 10 on pre order and only have had 7 pre orders placed.

3dbroadcast sales also based in the UK have a pre order queue of around 20, and seem to be receiving cams regularly, they also update their website to let people know how many cams they are getting in and other expected due dates.

Thanks

Received an updated email from CVP:

The initial shipments were 2 units and the last shipment was 5 units. This was the first increase in quantity but the regularity of deliveries seem to have settled at 1 per week.

So basically a terribly low quantity.

There you go...so if the quantity's stay at 5 a week you and I would be waiting along time for the camera from CVP.

So by my maths if the quantities stay at 5 per week you should get your Camera around this time next year.

States they are averaging 1 camera per week as a large reseller. Should get the camera… in 5 years.

Placed my order on the 15th of April...(1 week after camera was announced). Was told by CVP I was around 200th in the queue.

I cancelled my pre order this morning as I realised there is no way I would get my cam through CVP before 2014 at this rate.

Yes that's odd although he did clarify by saying the place in the queue was changing daily (not backwards I hope!). Regardless, I think I'll cancel.

In short, probably yes. In the US this may well be true, but for Europe, not.

Despite being maybe the biggest retailer in Europe, CVP got the poor relation's share of the original 2.5K camera, regardless of claims by BM that distribution was "fair". Mine took 11 months to materialise, which is no fault of CVP who were brilliant and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

CVP are however at the mercy of distribution, which was horribly broken with the 2.5k, and may well still be with the BMPCC.

CVP has just delivered a BMPCC to Andrew Reid at EOSHD but he ordered on the day at NAB. I placed my order with CVP on the early hours of 8/4/13 within minutes of the leaked photos emailing directly several hours before NAB started and I have no notification of delivery to date. CVP once again gives bloggers preferential treatments and they did the same last year with the BMCC when they moved Andrew up the queu and gave some lame excuses :(
Apparently according to a poster who contacted CVP they have nearly completed the first day order yet I was one of the few very first to order from CVP even before the camera appeared on their website.

In future I'm taking my customs elsewhere like Jigsaw because I'm sick of dealing with companies that are underhanded.

This is the email from CVP on 21st August
At this time we are still waiting for our first shipment of stock to arrive. We have had confirmation that it has left Blackmagic but we do not know when it will be arriving or how many units to expect.

I can confirm that your order was one of the first few we received and depending on the quantity we receive it will be one of the first few we ship out

Thank you for your continued patience

Kind Regards

I ordered on the 26/04/13 and got in touch with CVP today. I was inquiring if there was a chance I would receive it before the 12th of October as I was going on a once in a lifetime trip so I could get batteries etc lined up in advance. The reply was "Unless we see a large increase in quantity it is unlikely that we will be able to get you camera to you before the 12th".

I'm assuming/hoping it wasn't the 12th of Never...................Happy days....................

This is total speculation on your behalf. You have zero idea of the timestamp on my order with them.

I do remember clicking like a madman as soon as it came available though.

Last year I was not moved up the queue either.

Andrew, you were 7th on the list last year with the BMCC then you got moved up because CVP said you contacted them earlier and the first to do so and they decide to move you up the que to first regardless if you card deposit was processed later, at #7?
This time round I contacted CVP placing my order in the morning just after 9.00am on the 8th April, your order came in after 4.00pm the same day but they moved you up again.
Seems reasonable debate is not your fortei.
Did you not say on your blog how much you hated BMD and BMPCC and that you have cancelled on more than one occassion? You seem to be master at throwing toys out of the pram and now its your favourites. Make up your mind son!!!!

BTW CVP replied to my complaints and believing that I ordered later so I posted a copy of my email to them the one which shows the order I place just after 9.00am 8th April which was confirmed by CVP at the time. They did not reply and I'm waiting, no doubt it will be another lame excuse!

I would not be surprise if you get yours before mine. CVP not have a very good track record with me. They couldnt even bother to process a refund for my deposit for the original BMCC nor could they bother transferring my deposit for a different purchase. Seems like they don't care unless one is a blogger and advertise their company.

Not true. What actually happened was this - when I ordered the BMCC, the website had pricing issues off the bat. I ordered early so this wasn't yet corrected. When they corrected the pricing issue a few minutes later the orders database went off the date of my deposit payment and bumped me down to 7th.

Later this was corrected to the proper chronological order of me placing the order, rather than the deposit payment date stamp in their database.

With the Pocket Camera, I am practically the last filmmaker with a blog to get it. Bloom had the first one from CVP. I suggest you be patient like the rest of us have been. At least I actually pay for my cameras and don't just get the sent from a sponsor like a lot of other sites do.

I have no control over who CVP may or may not be prioritising. I don't think what you're saying is correct. I think you owe me an apology to be frank.

I don't owe you anything mate. In fact I'm not even blaming you, it is CVP that I blame. You on the other hand is blaming me and comming to their defence. Of course you do, why not? It is clear CVP is treating bloggers that gave them airtime more favourably.
Facts remain I ordered 7 hours before you did and it is CVP's decision that I'm unhappy about.

Im not a blogger or reviewer etc, just an unknown and i received my camera start of September from CVP

From the documents in the box it looks like i was #6 (006)

I ordered within the first few minutes the online link went live at the higher price of £839? This was reduced to £798 the next day, which is what i paid.

I ordered another on 29/4 still in the que for that one.

Glad to hear that.

There's really no conspiracy. They have no motivation to bump higher profile people up the paying customer list. Why would they when they have a demo unit to give out instead, for reviews and stuff?

Yes Andrew I ordered 7 hrs before you. Time machine is based on the fact that UK GMT time is several hours ahead of USA. You need to get out more mate. Several people in the UK has also placed their orders just after 9.00am UK time with CVP soon after the leaked photos appeared while most people in the USA were NAB was being held would be still asleep. You ordered yours after 4.00pm UK time so engage head before open mouth.

CVP has contacted me today and confirm they MADE A MISTAKE with my order! A mistake that they should not have made which dropped me down the queu. They blame it on staff error who is no longer working in that role handling the orders. What I don't understand is the same person who emailed me last month confirming I was one of the first in the pre-order queu is the same person who is contacting me now telling me this so I'm not sure of they are telling me porkies. They have decide to now push me forward, or in reality moved me back for the next shipment. The outcome is still far less than satisfactory because a camera I should have had over a month ago I still have to wait on while others who ordered later are already shooting with the cameras. I already cancelled an important assignment which is not BMD's doing but that of CVP who is completely to blame :(

I also emailed them hours before it was listed on their website when the Pocket was leaked, but as i said i ordered minutes into the live store link going live.

Did you email and leave a deposit? Or email and deposit later?

Maybe your order was manually added to the list after the pre orders went live making your early enquiry further down the que than if you fired a website pre order?

I would say though that first cameras in were probably handed out to reviewers/camera celebs for testing/company promotion etc.

Next time dont rely on someone manually forwarding your order, buy when the link goes live.

If you do not want to be at the back of the line at the big retaliers, then try some of the smaller ones. I had a look at the retailer list on the web page for BM's UK distributor and i ordered two days ago. Just got my shipping notice that it will arrive in the morning. I waited a year on my original BMCC order, no fault to Creative Video, but if you are in a rush, take an hour and mail a few places to see how ong their queues are

Unfortunately I don't have that option. Cameras were paid for in full by my Uni (Financial year ended July 31st) and as soon as I cancel the order the money disappears...

This is pretty disheartening for a new Blackmagic customer, I ordered on day 1, 8th April and CVP are currently still working on delivering day 1 back orders, saying there are 80-100 orders still in front of me, and quote.. "Hopefully the current increase in units will continue and we will see you camera in the next few months."

I understand that smaller retailers are getting units and have placed an order else ware recently but either way I feel pretty disappointed that a fairer method of distribution can't be found in the 21st Century!

I am not warming to this brand!

That's a real bummer and a shame you can't move your preorder.

I preordered with 3D Broadcast Sales last week and was 13th on their list, they are getting between 2-4 cameras a week.

On tuesday afternoon I noticed Jigsaw24 had 4 in stock! I ordered one and it came on Thurs. Now I'm waiting for my SD card to turn up.

For anyone else in the UK waiting endlessly for a camera it might be worth getting a preorder with 3D broadcast aswell and seeing which comes first. Also keep your eye on Jigsaw24's website as they don't have a backlog of preorders anymore.
