Pocket Camera Focus Zoom Button to external HDMI monitor

PostMon Apr 11, 2022 9:00 am

Hi BMD Pocket Camera team, We would truly love to have the Pocket 4/6K rear "Focus Zoom Button" also send the same LCD zoomed image to the external HDMI monitor as an updated feature PLEASE ? Despite many external monitor providing a zoom feature, it is slow and cumbersome to jump from camera to monitor and BMD Focus Zoom is much better !!!

This feature could be implemented as a simple "Mirror LCD to external HDMI" button in the monitor menu pages - functionally gives use everything we want. Given the normal brightness of 4K/6K (non 6K Pro) cameras LCDs, an external monitor is essentially mandatory to achieve bang-on focus in daylight, often in low light.

We would really appreciate this feature soon, since the request has been promoted so many times !

Great work guys !

Hi BMD BMPCC4/6K Camera Team,

Thank you for the numerous software updates to the BMPCC 4K camera ! Very much Appreciated !

Let me try again !
Could we kindly have the rear LCD monitor, specifically the Zoomed-in display for critical focus be switched to "mirror rear LCD display to the external HDMI output" please ?

This would fix these issues:
1) external monitors with a zoom-in feature on BMPCC 4/6K cameras don't work so well for critical focusing when the maximum camera HDMI output is limited to 1080p unlike the full 4KDCI resolution for the camera's rear LCD. I appreciate the HDMI 1080p limit is probably hardware, so a tweak in the firmware seems more feasible.
2) The camera's rear Zoom-in button is far more preferred to manage the external monitor's Zoom'd-in display rather than reaching for some external monitor's preset button, meantime jerking the camera...

This functionality has been discussed in many BMPCC 4/6K forums as a most useful feature.

Thanks, Jeff

With firmware updates to the BMPCC 4K/6K becoming fewer and far between, I would like to throw in my request for this feature to make it for the next release.

I believe it would be a timely one given the variety of HDMI options with different form factors appearing on the consumer market, including wearable displays (AR/smart glasses). Many of these monitors will have no substantial interface or magnify function of their own, and of course won't be able to magnify beyond the BMPCC 1080p output, so it is absolutely critical to enable magnify from the camera.

Jeff explained the principle extremely well in the above posts, so I think all that might be required to raise this issue on BM's priority list is consolidation of voices on this forum. At least after reading in between the lines from my conversation with BM support :)
