Update the Still Export UX

PostFri Mar 19, 2021 7:26 am

Being able to export stills from Color is a great feature. When dealing with a large number of stills, the process could use some basic enhancements:

- Show a progress bar for the stills export process. Currently there is zero UI for it, and the only way to know it's happening is that you can't access the Resolve interface until it finishes.

- Allow us to cancel the export. Again, when exporting a large number of stills, pressing Escape does nothing, and you have to wait until the export process has finished.

- Exclude .drx on export - even when you choose a different format (say PNG) it will export the DRX file along with it, so you end up with a bunch of duplicate stills.

- Add the ability to export stills to the Edit and Cut pages as well - allow the process to work on Timelines or Bins.

Edit: - Add the ability to only export .drx

+1 Yes please. The stills export process is a pain. Especially on the edit and cut pages.

Please please please make it ONE BUTTON to export a still. I press a button, a still shows up in a file.

You can keep the multi-step process for the few people that still want it.

I say no to this unless is a tick choice and while we are here, allow the export of ONLY the drx.

there are two cases study where either the still is unavailable but we need to export the settings or the still is NDA but we still need to export the settings...

so, why not have a checkbox popup coming up when we ask for export with
[x] - image
[x] - settings

where we can decide what to export?

if still is not available/requested, use the resolve logo if need to be there....

This is a good request, thanks. I've updated my original post to include the functionality for it.

an option as Walter said seems to be the best solution.

Btw a little hack for checking the progress. Open Finder/Explorer and see which files are already written. That's how I do it atm.

Is this a feature request forum or a forum to promote not to use Fairlight? I talk about basic things that are not difficult to implement and bring this DAW in a usefull level. To be able that one controller is recognised is no more in a time.

Show me yours postproduction example where you did use realy Fairlight and it was comfortable. No serious Studio will use Fairlight as a main tool for postproduction this way.

Until now I realy did not see any serious Studio that use Fairlight as a main DAW for postproduction. Show me a use case.

are you sure you commented on the right post? I can't see your answer being related to the topic in any way

I would love to be able to export a frame from a timeline, like right-click the preview player -> save frame to PNG, instead of having to jump hoops by rendering part of the timeline as video, then converting that into PNG

Yeah I can full-screen the preview and take a screenshot, but then its limited to my monitor resolution and not the timeline's.
A simple button in the preview right click menu would go a long way
