"One or more clips missing..."

PostThu Jul 14, 2022 1:30 pm

I just bought a camera that shoots 10bit and bought Studio as a result to handle the edits (easier than using Resolve free version and transcoding...etc) and the first time exporting a test edit I'm running into the issue of "One or more clips have missing or offline source frames...", BUT looking at the attached screengrabs, they are not missing. That said, when trying to relink, going to the folder that I know they are in, they are not showing up, "No items match your search", BUT I see the files when searching through Explorer. Lastly, I did manage to get one export completed successfully but when I tried it again, I got the same, "One or more clips have missing..."

So confused. What am I doing wrong?

I'm on Windows 10 using Studio.

Sure would be helpful if Resolve could tell us what attributes didn’t match when the filenames do line up. I think I’ll add a feature request.

You don't have missing clips. What it is telling you is that some of the clips have dropped frames within them and when you render you may see flashes of Media Offline at those points.

OK, thanks for the replies! Looks like my inexperience with Resolve showed up on this one. I eventually noticed a link icon in the upper right that was red and I was able to relink the clips that way, but not via the right-click menu as I tried several times before that. Does that sound right? My disk space seems to be running low, (I'm also relatively new to PC's), could that cause an issue like this?

So what's the solution to the dropped frames inside a clip problem?

I'm having a similar problem. Some frames are showing offline withing a single clip. When I add that clip onto another track, the frames show up.

I thought all of the rendering was done in real time. Is there a cache that needs to be cleared or some way to force a re-render?

Thx

Sounds like a caching issue. I think it's the one that was fixed in 18.0.1.

We have several reports of Pocket users who didn't set the camera to stop recording when frames are dropped. Turning that on would solve the issue.

Of course, you do have to pay very close attention while recording to re-start it if stopped. And if it does stop, you should probably reconsider your recording media or record settings.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

How do you render it anyway with dropped frames?
I'm editing someone else's footage, shot on sony, and Resolve is telling me, what you guys figured out to be dropped frames. I tried relinking and do not see the dreaded red, no media symbol anywhere. Thank you.

The same issue is occurring here, it is the first I have encountered this problem. I am using Davinci Resolve Studio 19 with media shot on a Sony camera. :(
