Did anyone notice that B&H's status has changed from "New item - Available for pre-order" to "Usually ships in 2-4 weeks?"

I have had $4056 in my budget for the last 10-12 weeks dedicated to buying a new camera body,I mainly shoot music videos. I'm working with a T3i right now and i really don't want to give Canon $3500 for a Mark iii or even $1800 for a Mark ii,I'm really trying to get my hands on some K's lol,but I have work to do an Black magic is pissing me off lol,I was super hyped when I found out about this camera but all the set backs have definitely dampered my excitement and then to hear than even if they do ship soon that with all the back orders there might not be any "new" orders available until 2013 is sad. :( :(

It is sad for everyone.

If you're after "k's", you're only going to gain around one if coming from HD :)

B&H Changing their shipping status from pre-order to 2-4 weeks, the Italian retailer, and now a venezuelan retailer holding a BMCC Demo. That's a pretty eventful couple of days for this forum. Guessing or deducing doesn't provide anything concrete but what can we guess/deduce from this?

a). The manufacturing issue may have been resolved, but for some reason we have not gotten an official announcement.

b). B&H, and other retailers have received limited shipping and we will be getting an announcement in the coming days.

c). Demo cameras that were touring around conventions have been allocated to target regional retailers to generate interest in the camera and B&H changing their shipping status is unrelated.

d). Nothing has changed. These events are unrelated. We are delirious from our lack of information and are stretching for crumbs out of desperation. **This is ridiculous. No company anywhere under any circumstances should be selling a product and taking pre-orders from April to October without providing consumers who have paid money for said product with detailed accurate up-to-date information about why they have spent more than half a year waiting for the product they have already paid for.**

**Correction**
(BMD has not taken money for BMCC cameras, pre-orders were taken by retailers)

somehow i think the pre pay stuff comes from resellers as they want to bind clients to them.

bm actually does not need the money for producing cameras i bet as they can
single handedly buy some company like resolve or teranex.

Would be D, but since BMD has taken no pre-orders, that's all on the retailers, saying BMD have taken our money on this and then just dark is rubbish. BMD haven't had a penny from the pre-order money.

There's Pleanty of things BMD have done wrong in this saga, but taking our money without providing info is not one of them because they haven't taken any money.....

But there's a thing i would focus on...that the two events, Venezuela and UK, are both in the same day, the 18th october...maybe it could be the official release day...(the CVP has one event also the 16th)...just guessing... :?

The incredible thing is : i'm italian, i'm going to Venezuela in a few days and I wanted to bring the camera with me for a project I'm working on down there, here in Italy there are no cameras, no demos, no presentations, and there will be a presentation in Venezuela!

Really, I just don't know what to hope or what to do.

de cualquier manera investiga bien, pues para lo que tu haces los costos son elevados, sobre todo la posproduccion, el equipo que requieres para ponerla a trabajar, y si tus cllientes estan dispuestos a pagar mas, muy bien.

P.S. @ Edwin

you're not going to get a camera that shoots raw for that price. Sony FS100 is a really good camera but is more expensive than the BMCC and is not a cinema camera. Sure, we still have to see if the BMCC is really a cinema camera, but at least it comes out with that intention.

The only other option i know is Ikonoskop (but costs 8000 €) or Kineraw (still not out).

Es mejor tener paciencia y esperar un poco mas, yo tambien necesito esa camara YA, pero que se puede hacer? Ellos estan bien tranquilos porque saben que no hay otras opciones a ese precio.

xxxx: Hi - we were closed for a few days so we need to get up to speed with what the latest info is - But the last info we had was that the most recent batch of cameras that were scheduled to ship had issues and Black Magic was fixing the problem and we have not heard yet when they will start shipping again at this time.

I think any camera can be a cinema camera in the right hands. I would say the Sony FS100 is BETTER than the Panasonic AG-AF101 and the AF101 was used to shoot the Indonesian movie 'The Raid'.

People have to stop thinking they can only shoot a movie on the BMCC! Would it be harder to light and shoot with the FS100? 100% yes of course, but if you have the knowledge and skills I would choose a 35mm sensor camera over the BMCC any day of the week.

What the BMCC gives me would be increased dynamic range and RAW footage with Davinci Resolve for 3k. With this I can spend less time on lighting on set and fix all my mistakes in post... that's all. If I crush the whites? No problem I have the extra dynamic range to fix this to get detail back. If I crush the blacks? Same deal. If I mess up the white balance? Davinci and RAW will fix this no problem.

I think because it's called "Blackmagic Cinema Camera" people think it's the only camera they can afford to shoot a movie on. It's just not true.

When I use my FS100 to it's full potential and spend time lighting and setting up a shot (especially a good MCU) I can get a beautiful looking picture with it and I'm far from a good DoP.. in fact I'm rubbish, but a bit of time and love can get you far.

worst format (mp4). You need lens also, expensive than the ones that you can use with bmc
You need nore than the generic battery that comes with the sony (that means if you want 2 batt u must afford 75€ more for the sony) not checked the solutions for bmcc, i will do when arrives... but cant be so expensive..
(i talk about german prices)
sound... well fs1000 comes with a mic and xlr w phantom... you save the phantom, but you need a mic (lets talk with cheap ones, difference between ntg1 and ntg2 is 20€)
anyway, cinema camera, cinema shooting, sound is not recorded with the camera (i have the tascam dr100 mk2, works perfect)

Lens: 18-55 f3.5
-sony nex 320€
-bmc: (decent) lens adapter 40€
---nikon 150€
---canon 180€
storage
bmc: ssd vertex 4 250gb 200€
sony: sdhc kingston cl. 10 32gb 40€

mas cara?

Sure. Next week. Then it's two weeks. Then it's next week. Then it's the end of the month...

Sure "cinema" camera is just a name to sell more, but STILL we cannot say that having a RAW recording camera is the same than having a h264 or a mp4 recording camera, if we say so we are just fooling each other. The potential of the BMCC is way above sony fs100. Sure to have the best camera of the world does not mean you can shoot a movie with it, just like having a crappy 200$ camera doesn't mean you won't be able to shoot an interesting project.

I mean, don't make me laugh...RAW is RAW and that's the main reason why we're here waiting for this camera, biting our fingernails!

10 bit 4:2:2 ProResHQ for less than $3K appeals to more people than you might realize. ;)
