Customize Media Pool List View?

PostFri Nov 11, 2022 11:33 pm

Hi --

I am wondering if there is a way to customize the columns - content and order - for the List View in the Media Pool window?

Based on some Google searches and searching on these forums it does not appear this is possible but I figured I'd ask anyway.

This seems like a pretty obvious feature that DaVinci Resolve should have so I'm surprised if it is not available.

Thanks

Right click any column to select which columns are seen.

Drag to rearrange sequence.

You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hi --

That does not work.

I am running DaVinci Resolve 18.1

I have attached a screen shot of my PC with the Media Pool window open. If I right click on the columns nothing happens. I can only click on them to sort by that column.

You're right clicking on the top, the name of that column? (This is SOP for computers.)

Also, I don't use the Cut page, so..try this in Edit.

Hi --

Okay, right clicking on the columns in the EDIT page does work so I guess there is a bug on the CUT page.

Thanks

I don't know if it's a bug or by design. The CUT page is...flawed by design, in my view.

The cut page should certainly allow for this as well as supporting smart bins. Hopefully one day...

If the Cut Page is going to be "flawed by design", then the Resolve Reference Manual ought to make it clear that customizing the List View only works on the Edit Page. I'm a half-hour in now just trying to show columns that are relevant to me. Thank goodness I found this thread.

I agree! Having inconsistent functionality for the same feature, depending on which Resolve screen you are using is confusing to users.

Like the vast majority of solutions to questions I've found on this forum this does not work in the current version of Resolve for me.

I'm on 18.6 on a recent macbook and I cannot access any kind of option to change the columns shown or rearrange their order in the list view of the media pool on the edit page.

Cloud sync will never be relevant for me in any context so I'd really like to see useful things like date modified and start TC instead. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Ok you actually have to:

1. navigate up to the top folder level where you can make a Bin if you aren't already using one
2. right click on the bin and choose open as new window
3. in the window that opens you can rearrange columns by dragging and right click to select them
4. annd, nothing changes...
5. ok after making changes you actually have to click on create column layout (which isn't obviously a button) at the top of the window that opens when you right click in the new window where you can actually change the column selection and order and save the layout
6. annnd, nothing changes...
7. if there's a way to apply this custom column layout i just spent five hours learning how to create i can't find it or any mention of this recent change anywhere in the documentation or forum except a thread referencing the cut page where they seem to have piloted this umm, user experience improvement

i can't actually be mad i'm laughing so hard right now, if there's a way to apply my custom column layout to be the default view for a bin please help me out, even if it's not persistent.

You can create and save custom column layouts by right clicking and opening a Bin as a new window but I can't figure out how to apply the custom layouts to the media pool list view at all if anyone has figured that out. It's 4/26/24 and I'm on v18.6 on mac, any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I may have found the solution. At least the solution i did look for:

In the cut-page at the media-pool in the upper right corneer besides the reload button (i believe, the button is not active at my current project so i dont know what it fr does) is the "Sort Media By" drop-down menue. If you use that menue u can choose which Colomn is at the front. (My Problem was, that i had the Scene on the far left side where normaly the file name should stand and i didn't know how to change it back initially)

Maybe you can also choose custom Lists by that menue, i dont have custom lists.
