12K Lucadapters Magic Booster - who's used it?

PostMon Dec 19, 2022 9:44 am

The Lucadapters Ursa 12K unit - I'd love to be able to get closer to FF coverage and that extra stop of light sounds nice.

Has anyone used it? Any experiences?

The Zeiss lenses I'm gravitating towards (the affordable ones like the Milvus, basically) are all full-frame. Rather than being locked in to using wider FF lenses to get a certain AOV on S35, whilst losing some brightness on a camera which seems to need all the light it can get, the Lucadapters seems like a great solution.

The product page mentions that installation can void the warranty, which is a concern.

So, you're going to put a piece of unknown glass (???) between your Zeiss lens and the camera? Why?

I got a 28mm Zeiss Otus modified by Duclose (gears and Nikon changed to EF mount) and use it with the URSA 12K. Full sensor (super 35) gives "full frame" FoV like a 40mm and super16 crop gives Fov like 80mm. Like having two lenses in one. Save your money on some "magic" booster and put it toward another lens.

If you want a full sized sensor then get a full sized sensor. If you want Imax then get an Imax sensor.

Nope, was just asking if anyone had used it *shrug*

Anyway, I'm now picking up a Milvus 25 next week to get the 35/FF FOV I'm looking for, so the Lucadapters won't be something I need for now.

Still, I'm intrigued by any tech that is made specifically for my camera.

I had pocket 6k version.
Some day of test, I tried to adjust and optimise, but … it was back to its box.
In my situation with L series lenses, I lose sharpness of 6k sensor.
I did a test with lenses on tripods, fixed manual focus, two 6k cameras, one with lucadapter ones without. I exchanged it, I did photo and videos.
Obviously removed lucadapter, also second cam give me back same sharpness of first in the same situation.
No good for me.

can anyone tell me the difference between the V1 and V2 Lucadapter for the Ursa 12k?
Has v2 gotten rid of the glare issue?
