Resolve for iPad: upgrade to Studio

PostThu Dec 22, 2022 3:10 am

I’m really digging DaVinci Resolve for iPad. Wish I were clever enough to figure out how to upgrade to Studio. Can anyone annoint me with the “how to?”

Many thanks.

Resolve doesn't prompt you to purchase when working with the free feature set.

Add a studio feature (e.g dehaze or magic mask) to get the prompt, and follow the App Store instructions.

Do you have iPad with m1 or m2?
In my older iPad pro 2018 it crashes in the beginning….

It works here on a 9th gen model with an A13 processor.
Having no USB-C, it's not a very practical solution, though.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Is there a manual specific to the iPad version?

Any chance to get Canon Cinema RAW Light into DR for iPad?
Upgraded to Studio version. Can only import audio from the CRM files.

How do you add a Magic Mask when there’s no Color Page, or Fusion?

There is a color page. Where did you read that there wasn't?

Re: Resolve for iPad: Canon .CRM support

I just upgraded to iPadOS 26 - in itself amazing - so I was considering getting an M4 iPad Pro until I realised that Resolve on the iPad - even with the Paid version - does not support Canon .CRM RAW files nor RAW files from the RED Komodo.

Will this ever be switched on? Can we vote on this?
I would have thought an M4 iPad could easily handle RAW files?

After all one of the strengths of the Resolve is its beautiful handling of RAW files.

It's handling BRAW just fine, but nothing else. Final Cut Pro X for the iPad reads only ProRes RAW of all RAW formats. Go figure…

Thanks for confirming Uli, Its a pity BM has gone that route of only supporting BRAW as I only shoot .CRM and RED.
I gave up on Final Cut a long time ago.

This is the third thread in a few days related to the topic of the lack of support for raw codecs in Resolve for iPad that are supported in the desktop version. I don’t think voting will get us too far as BMD is not a democracy but perhaps posting a feature request might help to to draw more attention. I did this ages ago in relation to Nikon Raw but so far nothing. Still worth a fresh post if someone wants to start it.

I’m not sure it’s all up to BM. RAW formats are normally supported by SDKs from the camera companies.
Maybe they are the ones who don’t care for the iPad?

Above my pay grade but apparently it’s in the RED SDK for iOS so presumably possible for N-Raw and RED Raw as well.
