DaVinci Team Project Collaboration glitches?

PostFri Jan 13, 2023 2:59 am

We have a team of video editors and colorist collaborating on DaVinci Resolve Studio.

1) we run a local 10G fiber network
2) DaVinci Project Server and all collaborator clients (Mac or PC) have no firewall

Team project collaboration works most of time, but sometimes, we do suffer from anolying glitches from time to time...and when the glitch happens, it happens repeatedly and renders the whole team unable to work at all.

We managed to capture the log, and we saw the following entries below:

Senario a)
Failed connecting to collaborator xxxxxxx (xxxxxxx) on IP 169.254.74.57 port 50059
another line about the project
Unable to establish network connections to all collaboration clients, close project

and the the editor was kicked out...

However collaborator xxxxxxx has already exited DavinCi by simply closing the application and put his workstation to sleep.

Question:
Do we have to exit the DavinCi project but leave the DaVin Resolve studio still running for a while, so that, it can communicate to DaVinci Project server and other collaboration peers that he is existing?
Otherwise, why he exited by closing DavinCi and yet other collaboration peer is still trying to communicate with him and once failed, got kicked out of DaVinci team project?
How should we avoid such glitch from happening?

Senario b):
Failed to acquire collaborators list lock - currently held by collaborator yyyyyy (yyyyyyy)
Unable to establish network connections to all collaboration clients, close project

then the editor got kicked out of DaVinci team project...

I googled, there is any hits on this issue.

Question:
what is the cause of this issue? and how to avoid...

thank you all for your help!

@black magic team,

This is troubling us a lot...and we do have a feedback/suggestion regarding the peer offline confirmation mechanism...

in the scenario A in my original post, if a peer A has saved project and existed DaVinci, why would another peer B is still trying to communicate with him/her and once failed, got kicked out of DaVinci team project?

we could suggest that, once peer B fails to communicate with peer A, it communicates with the DaVinci Project server to confirm the peer A is offline or not...if peer A is offline, then even can no longer connect to him/her, DaVinci should not kick out peer B out of team project...

in short, we would suggest to use DaVinci Project server as the sole authority to confirm any peer's status.
