DJI Mavic 3 - DLog

PostMon Mar 27, 2023 10:41 am

Hello community,

I don’t know if this topic already have been discussed but I got a question about the new DJI Mavic 3 videos in D-Log. I can’t find any problem with the videos, I can watch them on the phone.

But… I can’t watch them on my windows pc and I can’t input and edit them in Davinci Resolve which is more important to solve. I gave the videos to a friend who is also using Davinci and it’s working on his computer. The only difference is - I got the free version.

So is this possible?

Thank you for your answers

What does mediainfo say about the files? (the entire video section, please)

(Cue the "If it's 10 bit, you need studio crowd", but we need to know all the info first)

It does seem likely that you'll nee the paid Studio version to work with that media.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Resolve Free on Windows has undocumented limitation of not supporting 10 bit h.265 files

I submitted a ticket 6 months ago to fix the documentation, no progress

I encourage you to comment there and maybe BM will do something.

So - because I'm kind of new to all this - you would recommend buying the full version of Davinci?

I can show you an example video here (could't edit or trim it so full 10sec):

https://we.tl/t-imvLVxDAVV

Like I said I can't play it on windows or add it to Davinci.

Thanks for your help :)

There's something weird about it, I can't open DJI_0732.MP4 in the QT player.

Playing fine in DR Studio on a Mac.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Yes, studio is the paid version. Your footage will not work in Free on Windows as said multiple times above.

Transcode it to DNxHR HQX with Shutter Encoder https://www.shutterencoder.com/en/

BM updated the codec documentation a few days ago, so you can read more here
