8K PGM Audio routing assignment

BMD thank you for finally integrating Audio routing into the new Atem HD8..

Now pretty pretty please bring that feature to the Constellation 8K models as we are asking for this for over 2 years!! This function is very crucial for a lot of big shows including sports, music events, multi language programs etc etc.. And dont tell me that the 8K does not have the power to do that.. Because it has the heaviest FPGA's of all Atems..

Also for the 4 M/E Constellation HD... and are there any fixes for that model in software V9?

I was so excited to see this on the announcement live stream today. Would absolutely love for it to come to our Constellation 8K so we could make some better use of all of those MADI input channels!

But: As i understand it - this still means 1 global routing for all SDI-outs, right?
So not quite as practical as it could be...
Beeing able to set this independent for every output would be a dream.

GRANT... pleasssssse! 9.1 has to be Audio Routing for Constellation 8K!!!

If there isn't the ability to add this to existing Constellation 8K's, then there really needs to be a Constellation 8K G2 released ASAP with this functionality. It's such a basic function that should have been there since day one.

I'd love to see this come to the Constellation HD models too, but I'm not holding out much hope.

So, I just updated the Atem Setup, but sadly, as expected, no update for my Constellation 8K. Grant, please give us the Update! I promise I also buy an HD8.

Same here. I was very excited for this and this would be amazing on our Constellation! Dying to get it updated!

I think most would sacrifice input mixing for output routing of audio if it was a DSP shortage issue.

It would be also very nice for the Constellation HD models! (And even the Atem SDI Extreme ISO). Such a basic functionality, that is still missing!

It looks like in the screenshot (of the new model) only routable program audio? Of course it would be more useful to be able to set different audio channels for each AUX (or at least for each ME a different audio channel combination). So we can get for example audio 1/2 from input 1 on 1/2 at aux 1, and other audio on channel 3/4 on PGM, etc. Would be so useful! Even more useful than all that gain/pan/fairlight audio things, we don't need that, only audio routing!

(But first, please fix all the bugs!)

The audio in PGM on multi track is now done and ready.. So backward integration into the Constellation lineup would be crucial for those using it. Especially the 8K users that expected to do a lot with the Madi interface and just came up Empty because the "Most advanced audio mixer" can ONLY mix to PGM Stereo....

Cca 128 channel audio mixer in Constelation 8K with EQs , DYNamics, etc and only one stereo output is crazy for 10k+ price range ..

Also the ability for an aux to be a direct route from an input for ISOing etc

Daniel is a great resource for these types of setups as he has loads of experience.

This audio routing brought to at least the 4ME constellation models would definitely be a game changer. Especially when we have translated audio tracks on program video or separate video and mics for post.

I have the new ISO. And I can only route audio to the program out. Meaning I can only stack audio channels in the final program output.
Program audio is always being sent out the aux outputs 1/2. Which kinda stinks. I'd like to send just a single input with that audio embedded down one of the aux outs. not mixed with program. So I can get a true ISO feed of that input with its associated audio.

This would also be great when I play video back from hyperdecks but also need to send to the house audio mix. I was hoping to use a de-embedder to have him pull audio. but he'll get the program mix too.

Now, I can send out just a single input on 3/4 and use the mini converter sdi to analogue audio. which supports 4 channels. But then my master program record will have both the program mix and that input stacked on top.

The only way to feed the house audio from the hyperdeck would be take the loop out and run that through the de-embedder.

Thoughts?

Other than that, everything else is pretty straight forward with the addition of some features you'd only find on the 2 m/e. The audio faders on the panel need to bring down the audio faster. you have to keep turning to fade out quick. That would be a nice feature. maybe a fast and slow setting for the knobs.

Has anyone tried the following?

There is a feature in supported ATEM Switchers that allows switching/routing control via the Blackmagic Videohub Software, independent of using the ATEM hardware and/or software control. Requires ATEM Switcher software version 8.6.2 or later.
Similar to using a Blackmagic Videohub, it routes sources to destinations. You select the output destination (Program, Preview, AUX/Outputs) and then you select a source (Cam1, Cam2, Bars, Program etc).
To set it up, you simply add the ATEM Switcher's IP Address to the Videohub Control software on Windows or Mac, or even download the free iPad App to wirelessly change the routing without a dedicated panel or computer.

ISO Audio output is a step further - I would love to have the 16 Audio Channels on all outputs.

That would be ideal but a lot of my Audio guys don't have madi inputs on their boards.

Yes and no. Nearly every recorder has a loop through. So, you could go from camera to recorder to atem. If you have recorders with timecode sync, this is also not an issue.

Robert : Im using rack Hyperdecks for recording .. Its hard to put it near to camera .. U need power for hyperdeck (camera is powered from hybrid cable) .. etc etc ..

Roman, He means you look the feed First trough the recorder before it goes into the Atem.

And if you are using the BMD SMPTE Fiber units just take the second 12G output for the recorder.

Yes exactly, this is what I ment. Your recorders are next to the Atem. If you have a couple of the new Hyperdecks, there is a timecode in/out. So your PGM-Feed-Hyperdeck will we the timecode master, and then you go into all the iso-recorders.

I seriously cannot +10 this enough!

It is one of my biggest gripes, amazing to see all of the new products but let's not forget about the "most advanced" switcher released only a few years ago for which the lack of audio routing possibilities is distinctly limiting.

I'd also add the lack of ability to bring TC in to the unit too, both features have been heavily requested, are these on the roadmap at all?

If that is true.. It's really sad that there Flagship Atems do not have this feature while there Toy atems do have it now..

We'll have to see what they do. It's certainly needed!

There is not yet much information about any new features on the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation 4K. They literally said it's the same as the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation HD but then 4K. There is no manual yet either.

They've only confirmed that the ATEM Television Studio 4K8 will have the same audio routing features as the ATEM Television Studio HD8. But at NAB at least the ATEM Television Studio 4K8 had the option to also map MADI input channels to AUX output audio channels. Something that is not yet possible in the release version of the ATEM Television Studio HD8 as far as I know.

Possibly (hopefully) we will see an update for the ATEM Television Studio HD8 to add that capability as well and hopefully also an update to all ATEM Constellation switchers (both HD and 4K) to add this audio mapping feature. I also expect that by then they will also announce an ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K that will be available at the same time as the 4 M/E.

Jesus ! I was just upgraded Atem Broadcast 4ME for Constelation 8K on OBVAN .. NO !

Could be.. But dont forget that unit is designed about 5 years ago.. And brought to market 4 years ago.. The big question will be if the FPGA is capable of handling ST2110.. And if so.. It will be a SFP+ slot.. So guess max speed 10Gbit/s Means it will do 3G HD out.. But no 4K50/60.. As you need 25Gbit/s SFP to do 12G-SDI on ST2110..
