clip track choice from source to timeline

Sorry but i can't manage to choose only the tracks i want... my source clip is 12 audiotrack , i only need the A1 and the A2 but when in insert on the timeline (with A3 & A4 unselected) it add all the others audio tracks (A5to12)....IS there a way to avoid that?

As of version 18.5, the only way to handle this is to 'disable' all the tracks you don't want via Clip Attributes.

Unfortunately, if your source clip has more tracks than your timeline then Resolve doesn't currently offer any way to remove the automatic patch to those missing tracks... the result being that Resolve will add to your timeline however many extra tracks it needs (and receive the invisibly patched content).

Yes, it's a very flawed design, and yes, there have been many complaints about it, but addressing basic Edit page functionality has not been a priority for BMD for the last few years. Hopefully that will change at some point in the future, but until then the only patch control solution is to either a) ensure that your timeline has at least as many tracks as source - because if your timeline track count is equal to or greater than your source track count then you will be able to manage the source / target patching with the existing patch controls, or b) limit the number of active source tracks in your source clips (by using Clip Attributes, as Jim describes).

even premiere is better on that tracks point. it's really Time consumming, so weird développers doesn't thinks it's really a major issue

Actually there is a way to handle this quite well. It’s in this tutorial:

Basically, import all your footage, sync audio, etc.
Then, before putting things on the timeline, select all your clips and, using the clip attributes dialog’s Audio tab, pick what channels you want to hear. That’ll get all your clips into the state you want.

If I have multiple audio channels which are all required for individual editing into the timeline, the current source monitoring and track patching design is too cumbersome for fast editing. Nearly all other editing software does it better.

I used to feel this way.
I agree that the Resolve system is much more cumbersome to set up. But I love that I can end up with one track in the Timeline that carries as many channels of location sound as I'd like. And I can listen to only the ones I care about. As far as I can tell there's no way to do this in, for example Premiere. I've asked on the forums and even the Adobe reps haven't been able to coax this functionality out of Premiere.

One really huge problem that does exist, however, is that exporting an XML doesn't bring the synced sound along. BMD says this is as it should be but I strongly disagree. Happily the synced sound does go along when exporting an AAF. Phew! So you can get to ProTools but not to another NLE with your synced sound intact.
