Frame error and video Artifacts After updating Mac OS 13.4

I am generating both 4K h.265 (HDR P3 ST2084) 2K h.264 (SDR Rec.709 and sRGB) deliverables so I can watch for any artifacts running Ventura. Both are fine in my previous projects under Monterey. In November when I go to Sonoma, I’ll watch for that again.

As a general rule, I typically wait six months after a new operating system is released before upgrading. This approach allows me to install a more stable and well-tested version. I learned this lesson the hard way several years ago when I upgraded to a new OS on the day of its release while using Final Cut Pro X. It took Apple three months to fix a significant interface bug in their own editing system. In my opinion, there's rarely a compelling reason to upgrade to the latest OS immediately upon release, unless you're experiencing issues that directly impact your workflow.

While your mileage with Venturer and Resolve may vary, I've specifically encountered issues with H.265 video rendering. Problems like corrupted frames and random digital artifacting have arisen. Based on a prior post, it seems these challenges are most prevalent among certain Windows and MacStudio users. Though there's limited discussion on the matter, the issue with H.265 is certainly genuine.

Thanks. I saw the earlier post that mentioned Ventura 13.4, so I’ll look for problems when I render my h.265 4K HDR ST2084 deliverables probably next week. I’m on Intel CPUs and AMD’s Pro Vega II 32GB GPU. So that may help my results be free of artifacts.

It might be connected to the hardware encoders, so it'll be interesting what happens on an Intel machine.
