18.5.1 Third Party Compatibility Error with Voukoder

PostFri Sep 01, 2023 2:57 pm

Hi,

For those on PCs who cannot export ProRes QuickTimes, I just wanted to flag that there's a compatibility error on 18.5.1 with the third party Vokouder extension that can be used to output ProRes files from Resolve on a PC.

It seems like there's an issue where the Colorspace and Gamma Tags do not appear in the export window. I've attached a screenshot of what I see when the Vokouder ProRes format is selected on my Windows PC. We need these features enabled in order to make sure our colorspace stays consistent in our ProRes exports, otherwise it automatically applies a Gamma 2.2 tag which messes with the video file's colorspace.

We have to export ProRes files at our Post house all the time, so this lack of functionality with the plugin has us frustrated. We will have to downgrade to the older version of Resolve until this situation is amended in a newer version for PC. If anyone operates on PC, I would advise against upgrading until a solution is found to make sure that third party plugins like Voukoder are compatible with the software, otherwise you will need to output large uncompressed files and encode to ProRes elsewhere.

Thanks.

Just found out about Voukoder and came across your forum entry. Any updates on this regarding 18.6.2? :)

Because of other bugs in 18.6 I sticked to 18.5.1 so far. Since I saw there's a Voukoder Pro Version in beta-state, I might wait to install if this problem still exists with DR 18.6.2. Thanks!

Please do a test if this solves the gamma and color space tag issue.

This is interesting. The VouKoder installer I have is: resolve-connector-0.3.0

And I see the Color Space and Gamma tag selections in Studio 18.6.5.

Yeah, but somewhere along the versions it stopped working and now is working again.

You should update your connector to the latest version as it there have been several fixes for audio and timecode handling.
