@Kruno: Your HP ProDesk 400 G2 MT doesn't have a GPU card installed and is using the Intel HD Graphics 4600 iGPU. This does not support current Resolve. It MIGHT work with Resolve 16.2.8.

It looks like your PC has PCIe slots, so if you installed a supported GPU card, that should run Resolve 19.

Any current AMD or NVIDIA GPU with 4GB or more of VRAM would be s good starting point.

Hi Maxim

I've linked instructions from Dwaine to produce and link Resolve logs and a system NFO. Please follow those and add a URL in your response.

I've also linked this thread with Windows on ARM users trying and documenting other steps - reinstalling .NET frameworks, using specific driver versions and contacting their manufacturer to get new firmware.

In general, for GPU errors, we encourage Windows users to install GPU drivers from the manufacturer - Intel, AMD, Nvidia etc. For Windows on ARM64, Qualcomm seems to be working with Microsoft and the OEM directly, and I couldn't find drivers there. As a starting point, please contact HP, and try their recommended driver version for your laptop model. Follow the Windows instructions to cleanly install graphics drivers, reboot and see if that works.

Regards

I generate log and nfo files, place it in shared storage in dropbox, but when I try add URLs to answer I receive the error - "You are not allowed to post URLs!"

It appears you may have the Ryzen Radeon 780M iGPU disabled in Windows Device Manager.

And that's causing an OpenGL crash in Resolve. Because with that iGPU disabled, it defaults to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and that only supports OpenGL 1.1 and Resolve requires OpenGL 4.5 or higher.

This is the joy of Windows notebook PCs with iGPUs and real GPUs.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

@Dwaine
I've had the same issue where the system says "could not initiate openGL."
I've checked to see if the driver is the latest version, and tried some other things.

My system info is:
Windows 10 Pro, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10 GHz, 8GB of RAM installed, and Intel(R) HD graphics

Would appreciate the help

@Ryan: Without the NFO file, I can't be sure, but it appears you have disabled the onboard Intel iGPU, which is causing the OpenGL error.

Good morning,

I am having the same issue as well. I am runing Davenci Resolve on Windows Server 2022 VM macine on google cloud. It is brand new installation and only have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed with the latest Dvenci resolve that I have just downloaded from the websote.

The VM is running Nvidia Tesla T4 GPU.

Here are the logs which shows me that the issue with OpenGL (but I am not sure how I can resolve it).

Your NVIDIA GT-710 GPU does not support Resolve 19. You can try removing that card, and seeing if the Radeon Pro DUO iGPU works better.

You can try:

Open Windows Device Manager, select Display Adapters and right click the GT-710 card and select Disable device.

But, I'm not sure that will be good enough. In fact, I think that will cause that device to revert to the native Windows driver, which doesn't have adequate OpenGL support, and will likely cause a Resolve startup failure. But you can try and see.

There might also be a BIOS option to disable the card, which would probably work better, if available.

But my guess is you'll need to remove the card to be sure.

Question for Dwaine or another Blackmagic Designer, I had the same problem as those in this string. I've been trying to get the latest version of Resolve to work on my son's older T530 Thinkpad but from what I gathered, only the older version 16.2.8 of Resolve will work with it. I downloaded & installed it (from https://archive.org/download/da-vinci-r ... .8-windows) and it seems to work, but I wanted to verify that this is the only / best option and that no Resolve upgrades are in the works for these computers with older GPUs.

The Resolve log file is located here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jcuJ0M ... drive_link.

And here are the specs / details on the computer we've installed the older version of Resolve onto (couldn't figure out how to access Windows System Info ap on Win 10):
Intel HD grapics 4000 w/ driver version 10.18.10.4425.
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz
Installed RAM 12.0 GB (11.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Edition Windows 10 Pro, Version 22H2
OS build 19045.5198
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0

Thanks for your feedback as to if if I've done all I can to enable my son to use Resolve on his older computer or if there's more I can do to enable him to use a newer / better version of the free Resolve for video editing & making short films as a talented 8th grader.

Not sure why you got the installer from archive.org instead of our support area:

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/suppor ... and-fusion

But correct that 16.2.8 is the last version that runs on an HD4600 iGPU. If it's working on an HD4000, bonus.

Your NVS 3100M will not support Resolve.

Resolve 19 requires an NVIDIA GPU that has CUDA Compute 5.0 or higher support.

The NVS 3100M has CUDA Compute 1.2 support, which won't work with any Resolve version from the last 5 years.

I don't have a machine with your Intel iGPU HD 5500 graphics to test with.

Here's what I have in my notes:

Looks like laptops with i5-5200U CPUs, which have HD Graphics 5500, Intel does not have a new enough driver to work. For our Dell E7270 laptop, which has an i7-6600U CPU with HD 520 graphics, Intel has several drivers for different Windows 10 builds. So HD Graphics 5500 may be a no go for Resolve 18.

The Dell E7270 works with Resolve 18.6.5 with Intel driver 30.0.101.1338.

You have Intel driver 20.19.15.5171 installed. That's not going to work.

I'd suggest you go to the Intel driver download site, and run their driver detect utility and see if it presents a newer GPU driver for your system. If it does, install that and see what happens.

Your laptop HD620 graphics should work.

Probably the Intel graphics driver is too old.

I'd suggest going to the Intel Driver Downloads site, installing their auto-detect app, and let it update the graphics driver and see how that goes.

If you still have issues after that, send an updated log and NFO file.

I checked the website and had no updates whatsoever. and when I scanned for driver updates in my settings it also said it was up to date. and suggested other versions.

I checked to see if I had updates and on the website it said ,y driver was up to date. I even checked for updates in the windows settings. and i was also on the latest possible version. But it also recommended me 2018 versions if i had problems with my current version.

That's unfortunate. It would seem like Resolve 19 is not going to work on that laptop then.

You could try reverting to earlier versions of Resolve, to see if any earlier version works with that GPU and driver.

I installled Davinci Resolve 18.5 that was released in 2023 and it still had this problem. Which version do you recommend i install, for it to be the latest possible for my graphics card?

Resolve 16.2.8 generally works with older Intel iGPUs. Give that a try.

Hey !

I had the same problem until my brother made me reinitialize windows + download and install manually every driver. Now Davinci Resolve opens with no problems (still have a problem with videos not showing though, even though they are in 8 bit). You might want to give it a try.
