Justifying Titles

PostSat Apr 05, 2025 1:01 pm

Hello all,

I would like to justify my credits like this:

Would like to justify like this.png
Would like to justify like this.png (221.36 KiB) Viewed 973 times

I'm having trouble figuring out a way to do this. I'm only able to justify credits like this:

Currently like this.png
Currently like this.png (14.65 KiB) Viewed 973 times

Any idea how I could get it to look like the first attachment? Where there is an empty space between the talent and role?

Thanks in advance.

To the best of my knowledge, you can do most of what you want using the Text+. You dont have full control, for example adjusting any setting, like font size, applies to everything. Also aignments apply to all. Here is an exampe:

Normaly I use CorelDraw to make my scrool credit, export it as PNG and animate it in Resolve.

Even the new MultiText in Resolve 20 is still limited in this regards. Hopefully one day BMD will incorporate a proper scroll titler.

Alignments are tab based and you can get quite creative with those so

tab can be right aligned for the left column
tab tab can be left aligned for the right column
tab tab tab can be centered between the left and the right
(and you can even animate those)
So there's *a lot* you can do this way.

There's also a literal scroll option inside of Text+ (check out the video)

I took the time to learn Cinecred and haven’t looked back. It’s amazing.

Yah but it is still limited especially when it comes to formating a credit roll! In example font type and size still applies to everything, unless I am mistaken!

An easy option for creating professional credit roll is to use a plug-in called Titler Pro 7 from NewBlueFX. Watch this video on how to use it:

You can download the trial version from here:
https://newbluefx.com/titler-pro/

But if you are a big production company, you may want to consider Endcrawl. It provides top quality and it is used by top Hollywood movies. However it is very expensive, but you can try a demo.

It's slightly more cumbersome because you need to use CLS on your text to change font/size/style etc, but apart from that it works the same: select text, change style etc.

And since Titler Pro costs more in its basic version then Resolve for the whole software, I don't find it unreasonable that Resolve doesn't do it exactly the same. But you can get a very similar workflow without too much extra work. Especially the left and right columns are almost always the same font wise in the projects I've worked on. But that doesn't mean it applies to everyone, I realize that.

I did not see your reply.
I never heard about Cinecred! But it looks interesting. Will download it and give it a try. Thanks.

Not only is Endcrawl very good, there's now a competitor that does essentially the same thing, Scrollix:

https://www.scrollx.io

I haven't tried it, but the demo is impressive. Cinecred looks good as well:

I was grateful to Cinecred for revealing that the end credit font in Marvel movies was Archivo, which is a very interesting Adobe font.

The support from Endcrawl is second to none, so they'll always get my business.

Cinecred got a new update to 1.8:

Cinecred Changelog 1.8.0

Additions
  • Pictures and videos are now configured via the styling window GUI.
  • The aspect ratio of pictures and videos may now be altered.
  • The scroll speed can now slowly accelerate or decelerate between melted card and scroll pages.
  • The new transition styles admit custom opacity and speed ramps, which can be applied to fades and melted page scroll speed transitions.
  • Grid and flow content styles can now sort their body cells.
  • Scroll pages in a group of melted pages may now be left empty, which is useful to, e.g., have an isolated card page scroll in and then fade out.
  • A new button in the project window directly opens the credits file either in the local spreadsheet editor or the web browser.
  • Added configurable templates for the delivery destination file/folder.
  • The video delivery resolution may now be forced to an arbitrary one, which is accomplished by cropping or "uncropping" the video.
  • Additional columns in the delivery queue show spreadsheet, pages, and specs.
  • The credits table may now be an online EtherCalc spreadsheet.
  • On macOS, the credits file may now be an Apple Numbers spreadsheet.
  • Added support for the Windows Java Access Bridge.
  • Added a translation to Spanish.
Fixes
  • XLSX files exported from Google Sheets no longer fail to parse.
  • Copying large amounts of files into the project folder no longer clogs up the file modification detector.
  • Style and file lookups by name are now robust to character encoding details.
  • Style ordering now respects the UI language's conventions.
  • Fixed crashes upon parsing an illegal timecode in the spreadsheet while an illegal timecode format is selected in the project settings.
  • Newly created 4K projects have their pixel sizes scaled up again.
  • Fixed off-by-one errors in global runtime fine adjustment when the first or last frame is left blank.
  • Fixed crashes when runtime fine adjustment is active yet there are no pages.
  • Fixed that a horizontal tail-body gap is ineffective if the head is disabled.
  • Fixed crashes when both forced row height and match row height are active.
  • Fixed rare crashes during interlaced delivery.
  • Fixed SVG rasterization for PDF delivery.
  • Delivered CineForm 444 transparency mattes no longer only use the red channel.
UI Fixes
  • Addition and deletion of project fonts is now detected immediately.
  • All pictures and embedded videos are now loaded in parallel.
  • The page preview now appears as soon as possible, and no longer waits for all embedded videos in the entire project to load.
  • The video preview and delivery dialogs now default to the currently selected page tab each time they are opened.
  • Timecode spinners now properly work with clock timecodes.
  • Added a dedicated setting for the number of columns in a grid content style.
  • Renamed the "matching" settings found in content styles to "harmonization".
  • Added maximization buttons to the styling, video, and delivery windows.
  • Remapped Ctrl+W and Ctrl+Q to closing a window or quitting a session.
  • The Yes/No/OK/Cancel buttons in dialogs are now universally translated.
  • Canceling a file dialog no longer opens a different second file dialog.
  • Changing the opacity in a color picker no longer causes a crash.
  • Fixed crash upon adding a raster image overlay.
  • Fixed opening of folders, websites, and mail templates on newer KDE versions.
  • Increased the UI contrast to improve legibility.
  • On macOS, the window title bars are now always dark.
  • The macOS file chooser is now localized.
Compatibility Notes
  • Picture and video configuration is automatically migrated from spreadsheet tags to the styling window, and warning messages tell the user what to type into which cells in the spreadsheet to complete the migration.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.
