Price drops are a natural thing.
Stop acting like a 5 year old.
This is exactly what he didn't act like. I'm getting a bit pissed of by all the fanboyeez that defend a company clearly lacking in customer relations whenever they are ciriticised.
There are voices who compare to other prices dropped for other technologies but it's nothing like this.
There were voices raised when Red reduced the price of the Scarlet and original Red One, but people seem to miss the obvious fact that they were already on the market and Red One had been released over five years earlier, which is an enormous amount of time when speaking technology. The BMDCC have been ridiculously delayed over the past year and some may not even have recieved their camera yet. That IS a huge joke as the original poster wrote. A camera that may not even be in your hands gets a price drop that large!
It's disrespectful of the customers who as the original poster pre-ordered because they wanted to support BMD and believed in their goals.
It's easy to compare all this to Red because that is also a company debuting in the cinema camera market, who has been rather bad at keeping deadlines, but the real difference here is that Red is actually delivering their promises and they make up for the bads by being truly first class in customer relations. Just being able to talk directly to Jannard when having some issues is not something any other company really enables you to. They know their flaws, they outright speak of them but they earn customers loyalty and respect by being one of the best companies to be dealing with, with or without issues. It's like that person at work who isn't especially good at what he does, who screw up more times then any other but who is a truly friendly, happy and inspiring person, you don't want them to be fired, you stand up for them even though they might be a pain some times. But if someone is bad at what they do and is generally an *******, you couldn't care less about them, hoping they get fired asap.
BMD is screwier then most, not only do they miss deadlines by a lot, they don't tell customers what is going on and now things like this, doing a price drop for a camera that might not even have arrived to some full payers yet. That is not ok, that is just being an ******* and it shows the fact that BMD is not a company that is interested in trying to change filmmaking, they do not have true visions that a company like Red has, they are in for the money.
"Hey, let's get all those DSLR filmmakers to pay us instead!"I also thought of BMD as a good company that tried something wonderful for filmmakers, but I too have lost a lot of faith in what BMD is. And I've mentioned it before, that I want them to prove me wrong, but the sad fact is that they always proves me right and that is just damn awful customer relations.
I do not have a pre order for the BMDCC, I don't own one, but I can see bs when I see it and BMD has not done a thing to really earn loyalty, respect and love from the customers, quite the opposite.
It shouldn't be that if someone else comes around with a similar camera as BMD has, people will jump ship because of how BMD treats customers, but that is what will happen, the ONLY reason some people are still here is because BMD is the only company to deliver this technology right now.
But think of this, if Red comes out with a similar camera for the same price, I don't think many will break a sweat jumping ships, I would.
