Hi Peter, thank you for your kind reply.
I already prepared the requested files a couple of days ago so here is the link for them:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharingSince that time I somehow managed to actually open DVR17.
I found out that if I leave the Project Window untouched for a couple of minutes then the project will open, even though it is impossible to make any useful work as the program is just extremely slow and the playback is uselessly choppy - about 1-2 FPS.
I tried everything I could read on this forum but nothing managed to solve the problem.
At least I managed to export one of the projects into a usable *.mov file.
I know that my setup is not ideal but the thing is that everything worked perfectly fine for a month. Now I decided to make some upgrade to my system, e.g.
- replacing my old graphic card (AMD Radeon R7 200 1 GB) to GeForce GTX 1650S 4GB (which should be more than enough for me at this time as I work in 1080 and the videos are going to be used as evidence so no special effects are needed)
- doubling my (triple channel, e.g. 6x2GB) 12 GB RAM to (triple channel, e.g. 6x4GB) 24 GB RAM,
- adding a dedicated 256 GB SSD as a drive solely allocated for DaVinci
- adding a second monitor (4K) - which obviously shouldn't affect the performance
However, now, after reading so many posts where people are saying that nothing changed even after a dramatic upgrade, I am a bit worried.
I KNOW there must be a solution as everything worked perfectly fine before.
I tried to uninstall/reinstall DVR17 several times, uninstall/reinstall/rollback different graphics drivers, go back to W10 restore point but all I managed to somehow achieve was that now I am able to get past the Project window, open an actual project, export it, but it is practically impossible to do any useful work due to the extreme choppiness and generally slow response.
I kindly ask you to pay attention to this case as the outcome will affect my Son's life.
Thank you - and everyone - who decided to help.
Robert
